PALLIATIVE COMMUNITY CARE – REGISTERED NURSES  x TWO

Permanent / Full Time & Flexible hours

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life limiting illnesses and support for their families/whanau; within the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions.  We seek two experienced Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team providing nursing care to the terminally ill and support to their families/whānau as part of the Arohanui Hospice Community team.

These are important and interesting roles providing unique opportunities for experienced registered nurses who aspire to make a difference in the delivery of care as a member of a wider IDT in our community environment.  We offer flexible hours between .6 x FTE to 1 x FTE to any successful applicant(s) and you will work in a supportive and professional environment.

  • If you are able to work in either Palmerston North or Horowhenua or a combination of both sites;
  • If you want flexible working hours;

We invite you to apply for our roles.  You will need to have the following –

  • A minimum of five years generalist nursing experience with a community focus an advantage
  • A post-graduate nursing qualification or significant progress towards such a qualification
  • Proven record of sound clinical decision making and excellent problem solving skills
  • Able to cope under pressure and use own initiative when required in a flexible and changing environment
  • An excellent communicator with good written skills
  • Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Strong commitment and proven ability to liaise and communicate with all levels of staff at hospice, hospital, community health, primary health and residential care facilities
  • Good knowledge of medical in confidence requirements and privacy matters affecting patients
  • Experience in electronic patient management systems and MS Office software
  • Hold a class I unrestricted and clean drivers licence and be able to travel within the geographical areas of the Arohanui Hospice dependency
  • Have knowledge or understanding of the Philosophy of  the Palliative Approach
  • Current  level 4 PDRP
  • Experience leading others to successful outcomes for patients and their families/whānau
  • Experience in palliative care desired
