Arohanui Hospice is a specialist palliative care service based in Palmerston North caring for people living with a life-limiting illness in the Manawatu, Horowhenua, Rangitikei and Tararua regions.

CREATIVE LIVING FACILITATOR

PART TIME POSITION – HOROWHENUA CENTRE LEVIN

This is an exciting position for someone who is creative, personable, and who enjoys facilitating programmes that focus on personal growth and enhancing the quality of life for people living with a terminal illness.

Applicants for the role must have;

  • A warm and empathic personality with ability to interact successfully with diverse groups of people
  • Must have the ability to manage Volunteer staff effectively including managing the work rosters of volunteers
  • Arranging CLP guests/entertainers in an organized and professional way, and appropriate acknowledgements made in a timely manner
  • Have an interest, experience or skills in arts, crafts, and music
  • Understanding or knowledge of Palliative Care and its application within a Creative Living context
  • Experience working within the Health Service providing a service to others
  • Proven written and excellent communication skills
  • Practice must reflect the ability to integrate the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Must be aware of the protocols and practices when working with Maori or other cultural ethnicities
  • Must have a clean, and unrestricted drivers license
  • A good understanding of the importance of Health & Safety in work situations assisting others
  • Provide support to the Office  Coordinator of the Horowhenua site as appropriate
  • First aid certificate desirable

EVENTS MANAGER – FUNDRAISING

Part Time Permanent Position (0.6 FTE)

Reporting to the Director Foundation but working closely with other Fundraising and Hospice staff, this new position will lead the delivery of a wide range of regular and one-off events that support the Hospice’s fundraising strategy and raise awareness of our role and support needs within our community.

This role will also be required to work with, guide and support external third parties who organise fundraising events on behalf of Arohanui Hospice.  The role will focus on ensuring all events generate maximum revenue within sustainable budgets and contribute to the excellent reputation of Arohanui Hospice.  The successful applicant will work with the Director and wider Foundation team to communicate the annual schedule of events, develop and monitor project plans including budget and deadlines and prepare marketing plans as necessary.

  • Ability to use the Hospice retail network, supporter newsletter, website and social media channels to engage and ensure good outcomes
  • Prepare and maintain detailed sponsorship information packs
  • Engage with sponsors and supporters to secure financial and in-kind sponsorship for each event
  • In conjunction with AH Health & Safety Officer conduct pre-event assessments and identify risks as appropriate
  • Act as the main POC for all Hospice-led events and be available to work out of hours as appropriate.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems and relational databases
  • Hold a minimum Class 1 Drivers licence

RETAIL MANAGER – FUNDRAISING

Part Time Permanent Position (0.5FTE)

Reporting to the Director Foundation but working closely with Retail staff and Volunteers as well as other Fundraising and Hospice staff, this new position will lead the Foundation’s retail business strategy to ensure maximum revenue is generated within sustainable budgets.  The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate substantive retail and customer service experience, and will bring energy, initiative, creativity and most importantly, a natural ability to plan and organise work to meet all deadlines.

This role has a commercial focus and approach to charity retailing.  You will present with knowledge of modern retail fundraising principles within a best practice context.   You will have staff and financial management experience, the ability to lead a diverse and geographically spread team, and will be able to demonstrate your ability create successful networks and build new relationships.  You can get more detail on the role by picking up a job description here.

  • Demonstrate with ability to design, implement, monitor and improve business processes;
  • Experience managing and developing staff – including volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience and knowledge of all Microsoft Office systems including Excel and the ability to learn new  technology quickly
  • Ability to successfully resolve issues and problems
  • Ability to cope under pressure and multi task
