HOSPICE SHOP SENIOR MANAGER  -  Awapuni, Palmerston North

Permanent Part Time (30 hours per week)

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families/whanau, throughout Palmerston North; the Manawatu, Rangitikei, Tararua and Horowhenua districts; as well as Otaki.

We have a vacancy for an experienced permanent / part time Hospice Shop Senior Manager Awapuni.   If you have experience in retail work, are prepared and able to help us meet our fundraising targets, have experience managing on your own at times and have the ability to manage our enthusiastic volunteer staff, we’d love to hear from you.

Specifically we’re looking for someone with the following skills;

  • Able to demonstrate strong and successful retail experience;
  • Willing to assist with the promotion of the fundraising aspects of our business;
  • Cash handling and banking experience;
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers;
  • Experienced to Intermediate level in Microsoft and  EFTPOS software;
  • Good communicator with good commercial acumen;
  • Have a friendly and approachable manner;
  • Have a high level of initiative and be able to work autonomously as required;
  • Able to find solutions and are comfortable with responsibility.

EVENTS MANAGER  -  FUNDRAISING

Permanent Part-Time  (24 hours per week)

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families/whanau, throughout Palmerston North; the Manawatu, Rangitikei, Tararua and Horowhenua districts; as well as Otaki.

Reporting to the Director Foundation but working closely with other Fundraising and Hospice staff, this new position will lead the delivery of a wide range of regular and one-off events that support the Hospice’s fundraising strategy and raise awareness of our role and support needs within our community.

This role will also be required to work with, guide and support external third parties who organise fundraising events on behalf of Arohanui Hospice.  The role will focus on ensuring all events generate maximum revenue within sustainable budgets and contribute to the excellent reputation of Arohanui Hospice.  The successful applicant will work with the Director and wider Foundation team to communicate the annual schedule of events, develop and monitor project plans including budget and deadlines and prepare marketing plans as necessary.

Applicants for this role must also be able to show:

  • Ability to use the Hospice retail network, supporter newsletter, website and social media channels to engage and ensure good outcomes
  • Prepare and maintain detailed sponsorship information packs
  • Engage with sponsors and supporters to secure financial and in-kind sponsorship for each event
  • Be self-driven, have initiative and enjoy being creative
  • In conjunction with AH Health & Safety Officer conduct pre-event assessments and identify risks as appropriate
  • Act as the main POC for all Hospice-led events and be available to work out of hours as appropriate.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems and relational databases
  • Hold a minimum Class 1 Drivers licence
