How We Work
For patients and their family/whanauAs a specialist palliative care centre Arohanui works across and with a whole range of health professional and support agencies to support and coordinate the palliative care needs of those living with the effects of life limiting illness. The priority is meeting the needs of the patient and their family /whanau promptly and effectively. To do this we work closely with our patients, primarily through the nursing role of Palliative Care Co-ordinator, to ensure that potential problems are identified early and dealt with effectively. For us, the patient and their family are always the central focus of care. |
For other health professionals and support agenciesIn order to provide effective support for patients we seek to work in close partnership with other agencies such as general practices, district nurses, Aged Residential Care and iwi providers, acknowledging their role in the care of patients living with life limiting illness and supporting them in the care they provide though direct involvement, advice or professional education. A healthy partnership between Arohanui as the specialist centre and these community partners is very important to ensure the needs of patients are met. |
