Community Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator

Part-time | 0.6–0.7 FTE | Palmerston North | Arohanui Hospice Foundation

Be a visible face of Arohanui Hospice and help turn community goodwill into meaningful action.

We are looking for a confident and credible relationship-builder to represent Arohanui Hospice across our region and grow participation in community fundraising.

You will build relationships with individuals, schools, clubs and community groups; present to a range of audiences; identify opportunities; and help supporters turn their ideas into successful fundraising activity. You will also coordinate selected supporter recognition and engagement events.

This role combines warm, authentic community engagement with initiative, sound judgement and strong follow-through. You will need to be comfortable starting conversations, encouraging people to become involved and representing Arohanui Hospice professionally in a wide variety of settings.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Representing Arohanui Hospice at community events, meetings and presentations.
  • Proactively developing relationships with schools, service clubs, community organisations, volunteers and individual fundraisers.
  • Helping supporters plan and deliver safe, successful and well-connected fundraising activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow participation, income and repeat support.
  • Managing community fundraising enquiries and relationships from initial contact through to acknowledgement and follow-up.
  • Coordinating selected small-scale supporter engagement and recognition events.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records and reporting on activity, income, participation and opportunities.
  • Working closely with marketing, donor services and the wider Foundation team to ensure supporters receive consistent communication and recognition.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience representing an organisation in community, stakeholder or public-facing settings.
  • Confidence presenting to groups and adapting your communication for different audiences.
  • Proven ability to initiate, build and maintain external relationships and encourage people to take action.
  • Strong organisation, accuracy and follow-through across multiple activities and deadlines.
  • The initiative and judgement to work independently while protecting organisational relationships, messages and reputation.
  • Experience in fundraising, community engagement, partnerships, business development, membership growth or another relationship-based role with measurable outcomes.
  • A full New Zealand driver licence and ability to travel within the Arohanui Hospice service region.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake regular planned evening and weekend work, with hours balanced across the working week.

Why join Arohanui Hospice?

You will join an experienced, collaborative Foundation team responsible for raising the community funding that helps keep specialist palliative care and support free of charge for local patients and whānau. This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of community relationships, work alongside marketing and donor-services specialists, and see the direct impact of your work across the region.

  • Part-time, 0.6–0.7 FTE, with agreed flexibility across the working week.
  • Palmerston North-based and community-facing.
  • Salary based on skills and experience.
  • A supportive, purpose-driven team and meaningful work with visible community impact.
