Established in 1991, Arohanui Hospice in Palmerston North provides specialist and palliative care for patients living with life limiting illnesses while supporting their families and whanau. We are situated in Palmerston North and service the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions.

Our name ‘Arohanui’ means ‘with much love’ and we strive to demonstrate that every day, in every way, with our heartfelt and excellent care.  Our care is provided free of charge but costs a considerable amount to provide. Just over half of our funding comes from Te Whatu Ora contract, the rest – over $3.5 million – needs to be fundraised and we are able to do this through the generous support of local businesses and individuals who understand the importance of our service in the community.

 About the role:

The Events Manager is responsible for creating, coordinating and delivering successful revenue generating and promotional events for the benefit of Arohanui Hospice. This new role is supported by an established team who currently maintain the events portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate events manager who can grow our events profile in the region. This role reports to the Fundraising Operations Manager.

You will be:

  • Collaboratively leading events
  • Building key relationships with viable fundraising partners
  • Developing and maintaining an engagement strategy
  • Promoting the growth of the events portfolio
  • Assisting external parties who also run fundraising events for Arohanui Hospice

You will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience coordinating fundraising events with a proven track record of success
  • Agile problem solving and delegation skills
  • A sound understanding of fundraising for the Not for Profit sector
  • A proven ability to forge and maintain beneficial relationships
  • The drive to deliver on customer and organisational expectations
  • A depth of project management experience and adept with project management tools
