Permanent Part-time Position (Thursday, Friday and Saturday plus on call cover)

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life limiting illness and support for their families/ whānau; within the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape region.

We are looking for an experienced manager for our Levin shop.  This is a lead position in the shop (2IC), reporting to and working in partnership with the Senior Shop Manager and assisted by the Assistant Shop Manager.  The successful applicant will ensure the smooth day to day running of this shop through clear planning and communication.   We are looking for someone with a background in retail and a passion for sales and customer service, who also has the ability to manage and collaborate with our enthusiastic and dedicated team of volunteers.  You must be a people person.

Specifically we are looking for someone with the following skills:

• Strong retail and staff management experience (at least five years)
• Confident administration skills including experience in the use of office technology; Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience in cash handling and reconciliation is essential
• Prior experience of working with volunteers is preferred
• Good level of commercial acumen
• Friendly, engaging and approachable manner
• The ability to communicate at all levels and to be fully understood
• High degree of initiative, ability to plan ahead and innovate
• The ability to organise, manage deadlines, establish workable systems and processes , find solutions, and be comfortable with responsibility and accountability
• Be a natural teacher

The work hours for this role are 17 hours/week plus additional on call cover as and when required.  It is essential that the appointee to this position is able to work flexibly and co-operatively, so if you have some or all of these skills we would like to hear from you.
