Arohanui Hospice are looking for exceptional Registered Nurses to join our team.  In addition, Arohanui Hospice provide excellent working conditions, support for professional development including payments for PDRP, and opportunities for career progression.  We are committed to staffing levels that are safe and ensure best patient care.  There is support from senior managers on call at weekends and a doctor and pharmacist on call 24/7 for advice.   Arohanui Hospice supports a healthy work life balance with well-designed and considered rostering.  If you need a little more convincing – we have great coffee and daily morning teas freshly baked on site!

Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life limiting illnesses and support for their families/whanau; within the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions.  We seek an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care to the terminally ill, and support to their families/ whānau.

We currently have permanent nursing positions available for our inpatient unit at 0.8 FTE

  • Our inpatient nursing team members work rostered and rotating shifts including nights and weekends over a seven day period

If you have a passion to be part of our Specialist Palliative Care Interdisciplinary team and have the following skills:

  • Experience in palliative care and/or significant experience in generalist nursing
  • A commitment to undertaking post graduate nursing education, or willingness to work towards such a qualification
  • Strong commitment and proven ability to liaise and communicate with all members of a wider health provider team to maximize patient outcomes
  • A proven record of sound clinical decision making and excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to cope under pressure and use own initiative when required in a flexible and changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A knowledge and commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • IT literate and experience of digital patient management systems
  • A full clean driver’s license
  • An understanding and appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the impact on individual, and whānau health outcomes
