25-30 hours per week | Palmerston North | Arohanui Hospice Foundation
Use your commercial relationship skills to grow partnerships that help fund local hospice care.
Arohanui Hospice Foundation is looking for an experienced business development and relationship professional to grow our corporate partnership and sponsorship income across the region.
You will own a portfolio of existing partners, including our 500 Club, while proactively identifying, approaching and converting new opportunities. Working directly with business owners and senior decision-makers, you will develop tailored proposals, negotiate mutually beneficial agreements and build relationships that grow in value over time.
This is a manager-level role with clear income accountability. You will have the autonomy to develop opportunities and negotiate within agreed parameters, supported by colleagues across marketing, donor services, design and finance. You will retain ownership of each relationship and its outcomes.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Achieving agreed partnership and sponsorship income, acquisition, retention and growth targets.
- Owning the strategy, stewardship, retention and growth of the Arohanui Hospice 500 Club.
- Researching, qualifying, approaching and converting new corporate prospects.
- Building an active, well-managed pipeline that supports current and future income targets.
- Developing and presenting tailored partnership and sponsorship proposals.
- Negotiating partnership value, benefits and terms within agreed organisational parameters.
- Managing partner relationships, renewals and opportunities to deepen support.
- Coordinating internal delivery of agreed benefits while retaining accountability for the partner experience.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, forecasts, agreements and performance reporting.
- Representing Arohanui Hospice professionally at meetings, presentations and business networking events.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated success proactively developing B2B relationships and converting opportunities into measurable revenue, partnership or account-growth outcomes.
- Credibility and confidence with business owners, senior leaders and other decision-makers.
- Strong proposal development, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience independently managing a portfolio and pipeline against revenue or growth targets.
- Commercial judgement, disciplined follow-through and confidence making an appropriate financial ask.
- The ability to represent a trusted community organisation professionally and communicate its impact with care.
- Strong organisation, forecasting, CRM and record-management capability.
- A collaborative approach that makes effective use of specialist support without transferring ownership.
Why join Arohanui Hospice?
You will join an experienced Foundation team responsible for raising the community funding that helps keep specialist palliative care and support free of charge for local patients and whānau. You will inherit valued relationships, have the scope to shape new partnership opportunities and see the direct impact of your work across the region.
- Permanent part-time position: 25-30 hours per week.
- Salary based on relevant experience.
- Palmerston North-based, with some flexibility and occasional evening partner or networking commitments.
- Established internal support across marketing, donor services, design and finance.
- Meaningful, commercially focused work with visible community impact.
