Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life limiting illnesses, and support for their families/whanau; within the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions.

People are at the centre of everything we do.  We are committed to honest, transparent, and visible processes that reflect our core values, and staff and volunteers are our most valuable assets.

Our reception is manned 7 days per week, and we are seeking applicants who are available to work between 3 and 5 permanent shifts per week including one day during the weekend.  Each shift is 8.5 hours long and encompasses all the standard reception duties such as answering phones, directing calls, processing mail, data entry and being the “go to” person for our service, and so much more.  You need to be someone who enjoys having your finger on the pulse of an organisation, and being aware of all of the moving parts.

Our receptionists play a crucial role in the service we provide, they are the first point of contact for our patients as the person on the end of the phone and the first person everyone sees when they walk through the front doors.

We are looking for someone who:

  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality – this one is really important!
  • Frontline reception/administration experience, preferably in a health or professional services setting
  • Friendly outgoing personality with excellent communication skills
  • Has the ability to develop and establish strong working relationships
  • Able to proactively develop systems and processes and use your initiative to problem solve
  • Experience working with large databases
