Community Nursing Operations Manager - Full time

Established in 1991, Arohanui Hospice in Palmerston North provides specialist palliative care for patients living with life limiting illnesses while supporting their families and whānau. We are situated in Palmerston North and service the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions.

Our name ‘Arohanui’ means ‘with much love’ and we strive to demonstrate that every day, in every way, with our heartfelt and excellent care.  Our care is provided free of charge but costs a considerable amount to provide. Just over half of our funding comes from Te Whatu Ora contract, the rest – over 4 million - needs to be fundraised and we are able to do this through the generous support of local businesses and individuals who understand the importance of our service in the community.

About the Role:

Arohanui Hospice is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Nursing Operations Manager to manage the daily operations, workflow, and resource allocation of our Community Nursing Team. This pivotal role will oversee service development, drive innovation in care delivery models, and implement strategic projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and quality of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight & Resource Allocation – Ensure the effective coordination of patient care, day to day staff management, and resource distribution.
  • Service Development & Innovation – Lead the scoping and implementation of new models of care to improve patient outcomes.
  • Innovation and Change Management – Confident and experienced in guiding teams through change and implementation of new innovations
  • Operations Planning – Align service planning with organisational strategic objectives to support long-term sustainability.
  • Quality & Safety – Foster a culture of continuous improvement and maintain compliance with health and safety standards.

What You Will Bring:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Registered Nurse practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in palliative care (preferred).
  • Completion (or near completion) of a relevant Masters degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff management skills.
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to culturally safe practice.

Highly Desirable:

  • An expert PDRP
  • Strong problem-solving, mediation, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of computer literacy and well-developed communication skills.
  • Experience in quality improvement and project management.
  • Proven ability to lead and work within an interdisciplinary team.
