We are seeking a Registered Nurse with palliative nursing care experience and a current practicing certificate to join our team at Arohanui Hospice in the role of Community Palliative Care Nurse. Who are we:
Arohanui Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people living with life limiting illness and support for their family/whanau across the Manawatū, Tararua, Horowhenua and Rangitikei/Taihape regions. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ensuring our practice aims to remove health inequities for Māori. A focus on Te Whare Tapa Whā, ensures a holistic, patient centred approach to care delivery and that values, beliefs and traditions of patients are at the forefront of all that we do. The role involves working directly with patients and their family/whanau and you will have the privilege of caring for people within their own homes requiring a culturally safe and culturally competent approach.
This role supports a work life balance with a Monday to Friday and business hours schedule, and it also requires rotational weekends (approximately 1 in 10) following a period of orientation. This is a flexi role which requires you to work in different areas depending on need providing cover for community, entry to service and phone liaison nurses, in addition to the aged residential care team. There will also be the need to work from both our Heretaunga and Horowhenua sites.
What you will bring:
- Extensive nursing experience in palliative care alongside significant experience in generalist nursing, including community care delivery.
- A post graduate nursing qualification or working towards one.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team to maximise patient outcomes.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively to meet workload requirements.
- Adaptability, flexibility and resilience.
- Proven communication skills both verbal and non-verbal.
- Continuous focus on quality improvement.
- Digital literacy skills
- A full clean New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- Clean police vetting
