Dear Arohanui Hospice supporters

In these unprecedented times, palliative care services remain as important as ever. It is important that we band together as a community and show kindness and consideration to each other. However, fundraising to support our services has been impacted by these changes and right now we need your help more than ever.

Why is this?

Those who are elderly, frail, and/or with an underlying chronic or serious illness are most at risk from the COVID-19 virus. An infection is likely to have acute implications for someone with a serious or life-limiting illness.  We have seen from overseas that the death rate in this group is higher than in younger age groups.  Our palliative patients are also vulnerable and we will continue to take special care and precautions to ensure their safety.

Fundraising to support our services is under pressure.

Due to the Government’s ban on mass gatherings Arohanui Hospice has had to cancel all fundraising events for the foreseeable future, resulting in a significant loss of fundraising revenue. Community groups have also cancelled fundraising events, compounding the loss of donated funds to Arohanui Hospice.

The future is uncertain during this difficult time, however we know that our community will support us, and we will get through this together.

If you are able to, please take the time to donate.
